The tiles in the bathrooms had suffered particularly bad damage where basins had been fixed to the walls on heavy metal brackets.

Working on site, the tiles were carefully conserved, and if necessary, re-instated and other architectural features restored. Pigments were mixed into coloured fills to match the background colours, protecting the body of the tile against steam and condensation. They were then painted with a modified epoxy glaze replacing the missing areas of design. The idea was to lead the eye, allowing the overall effect to be enjoyed without the distraction of damage.
